Sammie subscribes to the STA’s internationally recognised Learn to Swim Programme which provides a complete pathway for novices to progress from their first aquatic experience through to becoming proficient swimmers. Renowned for her patience, knowledge and reassuring demeanour, Sammie excels in delivering positive learning experiences and achieving outstanding results. Moreover, she is able to cater for all ages and abilities, whether newborns or pensioners, enthusiastic novices or battle-scarred triathletes. 

Babies are introduced to the water through play and song; for older newcomers, the primary concerns are safety and confidence-building. As basic swimming skills develop, including sculling and entry to the water, children and adults alike are encouraged to swim short distances unaided. In time, swimmers are introduced to a range of different strokes. The more able should expect to work on technique, speed and stamina, eventually with a view to also mastering water rescue and survival.

Please note: tuition takes place on weekdays, throughout the year, during school term times, between 9.00am and 6.00pm (Mon to Fri).

Every session is taught personally by Sammie, in a privately-owned indoor pool. It is heated constantly to over 30 degrees.  Lessons are half an hour in duration, and they are available either on a one-to-one basis, or to small groups of no more than five individuals. The make up of any group is informed by regular, on-going assessment, and Sammie goes to great lengths to ensure that swimmers are always taught with others of a comparable standard.

NB. The STA scheme is followed closely at all times, and certificates are awarded to reflect students’ progress and attainment.
